President William
Ruto has asked
farmers to utilise
the current rains to
produce more food.
He said the government
has subsidised fertiliser
to lower the costs of
production.
The Head of State said the
government was committed
to lowering the cost of food
production by empowering
farmers to produce at
affordable rates and earn
better returns.
“Increased production is
the only way to eliminate
the current food shortage
being witnessed in some
parts of the country.
“The debate about the
cost of living in the country
can be solved if we engage
in serious food production,”
he said.
He congratulated
Church leaders for their
commitment to praying for
peace and stability in the
country.
The President cautioned
the youth against drug
abuse.
He urged all stakeholders
including parents, clerics
and the Government
agencies to guide them
on how to be responsible
citizens.
“Drug abuse is becoming
a crisis, and we must put our
collective efforts together
to correct the situation,” he
said.
“I have tasked the National
Control Against Drug Abuse
(NACADA) Board to work
with other stakeholders in
containing the menace,”
said President Ruto.
